The Oktoberfest has officially started in Munich this past weekend. Even here in China there are many beer-fest organized around the country. Here in Shanghai we started with the Taicang Oktoberfest, followed by the Shanghai Oktoberfest and the Dusa Oktoberfest in Suzhou.
This means only one thing: beer, beer, and beer!
So I have decided to share with you this unconventional tiramisu’ recipe, made with …guess what?….Beer, of course.
Enjoy!
Ingredients (serves 6):
- 80 ml strong Italian espresso
- 50 gr sugar
- 80 ml beer
- 250 gr mascarpone cheese
- 3 eggs
- 100 gr sugar
- 150 gr lady finger cookies
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
Start off by making some strong espresso!
In a sauce pan combine beer and sugar. Heat it up until the sugar is completely dissolved
add the coffee
and let simmer for 3-4 minutes, until the alcohol of the beer will be completely evaporated. Set aside and let cool down
Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Mix the yolks with the sugar
add the mascarpone cheese and mix until you get a smooth cream.
Whip up the egg whites
and gently fold them into the mascarpone cream with circular movements from the bottom to the top.
Dip the lady fingers into the beer and coffee sauce, and lay them into a flat container
Add one layer of cream and a dust of cocoa powder
then repeat with one layer of lady fingers and one layer of cream, Top it off with a heavy dust of cocoa powder.
Refrigerate your birramisu’ for about 2 hours or over night
NOTE: do not put it into the freezer.
Enjoy chilled
Love
