A few months ago, to celebrate our 1 year anniversary I prepared this heart shaped french toasts for my boyfriend.
At the time I did not plan on posting this recipe on expatcucina. However, when I was done I found them to be so cute and such a sweet idea for a romantic breakfast or alsofor a fun weekend brunch with your kids.
All you need are heart-shaped cookie cutters of different sizes, colorful spinkles and then all the standard ingredients for making french toasts!
Ingredients (serves 2):
- 6 slices of bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup whole fat milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp canola oil
- syrup
- chocolate and colorful sprinkles
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Start off by cutting off your bread into hearts
set them aside
In a bowl beat eggs, sugar, milk and vanilla. Soak the bread on both sides. Heat about 2 tbsp of canola oil in a skillet and start frying the soaked hearts of bread
Cook them on both sides until they get a nice golden-brown color. Remove from the skillet and place the heart-shaped french toast on a serving plate. Sprinkle with chocolate and colorful sprinkles, dust them with powdered sugar and last drizzle some syrup on top
Serve immediately with a hot cup of cuppuccino 🙂
