I just got back home from the ICS studios where I’ve spent the morning recording a talk show on cooking culture in China. I was invited to talk, together with other 2 Chinese guests, about the whole phenomenon of celebrity chefs that is now so popular in the west and compare it with what is happening now in China. It was SUCH a fun experience and my first on TV! 😀
The show should be broadcasted in mid-June on ICS channel! So looking forward to watching it!
I spent the weekend, instead, with all my friends in Changshu (about 2 hour drive from Shanghai), where we rented 2 beautiful villas with swimming pool and jacuzzi. It was a super fun time but I will have to tell you about it later during the week, now it’s time to show you how to make a delicious apple pie!
I’ve posted many recipes for apple pie here on expatcucina (creamy apple pie, the best apple pie) but this one, somehow, it’s the one I like the most so far. It’s simple, yet incredibly tasty.
Ingredients:
- 1 pie crust
- 2 granny smith apples
- 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/2 lemon, juice
- 1-1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp cinnamon sugar
Prepare your pie crust
Peel and dice up the apples and place them in a bowl
add sugar and lemon juice
then the cinnamon
stir all the ingredients together
and pour them on the crust
cut off the access of tough pending off the edges of the pie and put them aside. Then slightly fold the edges on the apple filling
roll the remaining pie dough into long strips, thick as your pinky, and place them crosswise on top of the apples
Sprinkle the surface of the pie with cinnamon sugar and bake at 180 C for about 35 min or until the pie has got a nice golden-brown color
Remove from the oven and let it cool down. Serve slightly warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
Happy Monday
Love
