You guys know I LOVE cooking and eating and treat myself with tasty meals. but I also love taking care of my body, exercise, eat clean and be healthy. I regularly workout (running, cycling, dancing) and I do integrate my diet with protein supplements like protein powder and bars.
Unfortunately all food integrators are quite pricy here in Shanghai so the other day I decided to try home make protein bars at home. I was very pleased with the result. These bars taste just like the one I used to buy in the States and they don’t require to be baked, so even those without an oven at home can try make them 🙂
Ingredients (make 6 bars):
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp. flaxseeds
- warm water (a.n.)
- 1/2 cup almonds, chopped
- 2 scoops chocolate protein powder (whey, casein, others)
- 1 tsp. vanilla bean paste
In a bowl combine, oat flour, rolled oats and peanut butter
add 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder
then grab your flaxseeds, I could never live without them
and throw 2 tbsp. into the bowl
next up grab some vanilla bean paste
and add that too
chop up the almonds and add them to the mixture
Start stirring and add warm water as needed until all the ingredients hold together
Line a casserole dish with baking paper and move the mixture into it flattening it up
Melt the chocolate and spread it on top, then put it in the freezer for about 30 min
Cut it into 6 bars and store them into your fridge up to 1 week, or into your freezer for up to 1 month
