I’m back in Shanghai! Landed from Italy on Sunday afternoon, then Tuesday morning I head to Thailand where I got back from just yesterday. I feel like I’ve been away from China for months, while it’s only been a bit longer than 3 weeks.
Now it’s time to focus and work on my new year resolutions and projects. I’ve already got 2 kid’s birthday cooking classes planned for the coming weeks, my cheesecake business to work on (I haven’t told you about it yet, but I will soon with all the details), and also I’ve got to look for a new place…
The recipe I’m going to share with you today is a type of sweet dinner rolls that I made back in Italy for new year’e eve. They are are just slightly sweet so perfect to dine with.
Let me know how you guys like it 🙂
Ingredients (makes 30):
for the sponge
- 100 g flour
- 100 ml milk
- 2 tbsp instant dry yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
for the dough
- 400 g all purpose flour
- 50 ml milk
- 2 + 1 eggs
- 90 g unsalted butter
- 90 g sugar
Start off by dissolving yeast and sugar into 100 ml of lukewarm milk, let it stand on the counter for about 10 min until it gets all bubbling
then add the flour give it a stir
and let it rest covered by plastic wrap for about 30 min
Next up, move on preparing the dough. In a big bowl combine 400 g of flour, 90 of sugar
2 eggs, the sponge and the melted butter
Start mixing all the ingredients on medium speed slowly pour in the 50 ml milk. Keep mixing until you get a very soft and smooth dough. If the the dough is too sticky, add more flour.
Grease a big bowl with extra butter, transfer the dough, cover with plastic wrap and let it stand in a warm place for about 2 hours or until doubled in size
Now at this point you can store the dough into your fridge for a couple of days or you can go on and continue making your dinner sweet rolls by dividing it into 35 g portions
Shape each portion into a ball by pulling the dough from the top to the button
Cover with a towel and let it rest for 40 more minute. Meanwhile pre-heat the oven at 180 C (375 F)
then crack the last egg, beat it up and lightly brush it on each sweet roll
then bake for about 15 min. Remove them from the oven and let them cool down! Tasty, easy and cute.
