For the very first time in my life I homemade BBQ sauce and then I used it to cook some baby ribs in the oven…I don’t know why I never thought of making my own BBQ sauce before. It is so easy and the flavor is so much better than the staff you can get at the store that I’m never going to buy it again.
I did not take step-by-step picture because, honestly, I did not think it was gonna come out THIS great. Anyway, the process is pretty simple so should not be a problem to follow it even without pics.
Here is the recipe!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 onion
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
- Winchester sauce
Chop the onion very finely and sweat it on low fire with the oil and butter
Pour the apple cider and let it dry on high heat
Add the ketchup, water, chili powder, sugars and lemon juice
Cook on low for about 1 hour. When ready add the Winchester sauce. Let it cool down then store it in the fridge for up to 1 month.
