Crunchy Whole Grain Bread

Recently I’ve been trying to integrate more fiber into my diet. Trying to eat healthy and good for my body!

This bread is PACKED with fiber and is incredibly soft and fluffy! I’m sure you guy will love it. It’s delicious eaten with a spread of jam in the morning or use it to make your sandwich for lunch.

Ingredients (make one loaf):

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 package of dry yeast
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup wheat bran
  • 1/4 cup oat bran
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp old-fashion oats
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
Heat water, honey, salt and oil in a medium saucepan until warm
Dissolve yeast and sugar into 1/4 cup of lukewarm water and let stand for about 5 minutes or until it gets all bubbly and freaky
Stir in honey mixture and 1 cup of whole wheat flour mixing on low for a couple of minutes
Stir in oat bran

keep mixing, gradually adding the remaining 1/2 cup of flour . Next up add the sunflower seeds
and knead until you get a soft dough
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let stand for about 2 hours or until doubled in bulk. At this point punch down the dough then roll it up into a loaf shape. Place it into a well greased loaf pan and let it stand for 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.
Pre-heat oven to 190 C (375 F), combine egg white and water and brush it up on top of the bread
then sprinkle the 2 tbsp of oats
and bake for about 45 min. Remove from pan to wire and let the bread cool down. Then slice it up
and enjoy as you prefer!
