Valentine’s heart cupcakes

This is going to be the last Valentine’s recipe for this year…I promise! I’m not going to cook anything with a heart shaped on for many, many months!

Ingredients (makes 8 cupcakes):

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 2 – 1/2 cup flour
  • 250 ml whole fat milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4  cup chocolate frosting or nutella

In a bowl of your electric mixer combine sugar and butter

and mix on medium until they turn into soft cream. Next up, add one egg at a time mixing well after each one

Add vanilla extract, baking powder and flour altarnating it with milk

and mix until you get a creamy batter

Take off about 1/3 cup of it

and add 1 tbsp of cocoa powder

mix it up

then pour the batter onto a baking pan

and bake at 200 C (400 f) for about 15 min

Remove, let it cool down then using a cookie cutter, cut out small hearts

Pour 1 tbsp of the plain batter into muffin cups

place the chocolate heart right in the center

and cover it with an other tbsp of the plain batter

Bake at 180 C (375 F) for about 20 min. Remove your cupcakes from the oven and let them cool down

Then spread on top of each cupcakes the chocolate frosting (or nutella)

Your Valentine’s heart cupcakes are ready!
