Caramelized Stuffed French Toasts

Don’ be mad at me please!

I got back to Shanghai last Wednesday and ever since I’ve been super busy with work, catching up with friends and looking at apartments. Yes, I have a BIG news for you. I am FINALLY moving to a new place!

I found a really nice apartment in the French Concession, it’s small but very, very cosy and it’s MINE, like only MINE. This is the very first apartment that I really feel like my own and no one else’s. After having spent 4 years at my ex’s place I felt it was time for me to move out. This 2012 I want it to be a great year and I want it to start the best way possible so there we go with a new job, which I will start in less than 10 days, and now a new place to live. Next step will be to find a new gym to train and then everything will be JUST perfect. I’m excited! Soooo excited.

All this excitment tho made me kinda neglet a bit my cooking, in fact I havent been able to cook anything since I got back to Shanghai. However looking in my pictures folder I found this recipes for stuffed french toast that I made back in the days for my ex and that for some reasons I always forgot to post and share with you, so there you go today with a sweet breakfast idea!

  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp orange zest

In a bowl combine cream cheese, orange zest, 2 tbsp of maple syrup, 1/2 tsp cinnamon.

Stir together

Spread the cream on 2 slices of white bread up to about 1/2 inch from the crust

Place the other 2 bread slices on top

In an other bowl whisk together milk, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 2 eggs, vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg

Place one cream cheese sandwich in the mixture soaking it pressing down gently on both sides

Lightly coat a pan with cooking spray. Transfer the sandwich to the pan and cook 3-4 minutes on each sides until brown and caramelized.

Remove and place the sandwich on a plate, cut it in a half

drizzle more maple syrup and serve!

Next recipe will be from my new apartment kitchen 😀
