I went out yesterday and the streets of Shanghai were already full of people celebrating their Independent Day, drinking beer wearing their patriotic flag shorts or t-shirts.
I love this sense of belonging and passion Americans have for their National holidays. It is something us Italian lack. We do not really celebrate nor party for our April 25th holiday or our June 2nd one, for most of us those are just days off from work that you can spend relaxing at home. Very few Italian do celebrate those important days.
This morning because of all this Fourth of July atmosphere, I woke up and while I was making myself and my bf some pancakes for breakfast, I decided to change things up a bit and make some American Patriotic pancakes.
I was already half the way throw the process of making the batter so some initial pictures are missed, I was also, forgive me, preparing pancakes using that lovely, convenient Bisquick mix…
don’t be like me and make your family pancakes from scratch…
or just be like me…I don’t see anything wrong with getting a little bit of a help sometimes…
Now, once you have prepared the pancakes batter (using whatever method you want)
In a pan heat up some butter (that’s about 1/2 a tbsp, you might eventually need a full tbsp of butter if you wanna add more while cooking)
When the butter is melted, pour about two 1/4 cups of batter for making a total of 2 white pancakes
As soon as bubbles start forming on the top of the pancakes flip them over
Meanwhile grab some red food color
Pour a few drops in the remaining batter
Scoop out other two 1/4 cups of the red batter onto the pan and cook on both sides
Remove the pancakes from the pan and put them on a plate alternating white and red
Now grab some blueberries and drop them on top of the stack of pancakes
Pour abundant corn syrup or maple syrup
Make these tmrw for your beloved one!
I’ll be posting another July 4th recipe so stay tuned!
Love
