I have experimented with chocolate this morning and I came out with this recipe for homemade truffles. I’ll tell only one thing:
I loved it!
This truffles are delicious and super easy to make and they require very simple ingredients, nothing you already don’t have in the kitchen right now!
Give this a try!
Ingredients (makes about 15):
- 125 g high quality dark chocolate
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp alcohol (Cognac, brandy, Grand Marnier, rum, bourbon, or Kahlua to name a few) (optional)
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Chop up the chocolate into small pieces
In a saucepan heat up 1/4 cup heavy cream and 1 tbsp of butter
let the butter slowly melt and bring the cream to a boil
Add in the chopped chocolate
Stir with a spatula until smooth
Since I wanted to try these truffles with some boots in it, I’ve devided the mixture into 2 bowls and in one I’ve added 1/2 tbsp of Brandy
I only had this cheap stuff, but I’ll tell you something…it tasted pretty good
Yeech*
Now cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight until the mixture is firm
It took about 4 hours for the mixture to get right. Now with your hands, a small ice cream scoop, a melon baller, or a small spoon form the chocolate into round balls. Immediately roll the truffle in the cocoa powder and place it on a parchment lined baking sheet
Reapeat until you have used all the mixture
Simple like that!
Store your truffles in the refrigerator bringing them to room temperature before serving.
These truffles can be refrigerated up to a month.
