The Best Apple Pie!

I know everyone who has a cooking blog has at least one recipe titled “The best…something” and I know that most of the time those recipes are anything but the best. However I can guarantee you that this apple pie really is THE BEST, or at least one of the best. Every time I have made it and offered it to my friends, colleges, family members they have loved it! And when I say love, I mean LOVE!

because in about 3 weeks I’ll be back to Italy for the Christmas holiday,

because it’s Saturday and I don’t have to go to work

I am posting the step-by-step recipe of my delicious apple pie recipe. Try it over the holiday as a treat to offer to your friends, for your Christmas lunch or whenever you feel like eating something evilly divine!

Ingredients (serves 12):

  • 1 double pie crust
  • 3 granny smith apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter

In a bowl mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg

Take 3 granny smith apples

Peal off the skin

and core the apple

Slice the apples and throw them into the bowl stirring all the ingredients together

Take your pie crust and roll it out. This pie uses a double pie crust so you dont need to garnish the edges now

Pour in the apples

dot with 2 tbsp of butter

then roll out the second layer

and place it on top of the apples making sure it well covers all the edges.

Now you can decorate and garnish the edges as you like

Do some small cuts on the top layer

Cover the pie with aluminum foil and bake at 180 C for about 50 min. Half way through remove the foil and keep baking until the pie gets a nice golden brown color

And you are ready to go!
