I like making my own croutons, I find they have a very special, unique flavor. Moreover they are simple to make, not time consuming and don’t require any special ingredients.
I’m going to use these croutons for stuffing my Turkey tomorrow! Exciting…:)
Here is how you make Italian style croutons:
Ingredients;
- Half French Baguette (not fresh- better of 1-2 days old)
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp Italian Mix Herbs
Begin buy cutting your French baguette into slices
and then further cut each slice into cubes
In a large bowl pour half cup of extra virgin olive oil
Take 2 tsp of Italian herbs (which basically is a simple mix of oregano, basil, marjoram, them and rosemary)
and dump it into the bowl
Throw in the bowl the bread
and toss it around with the oil/herbs mix
You dont want to nuke your bread in oil, just toss it around, allow it to get all that oil and herbs flavor
Place your flavorful bread on a baking tray
Bake at 200 C for about 3-5 min, or until golden brown and crispy
Let it cool down, then use or store in a zip lock bag. Your Croutons will keep nice and crisp for a few days
Make them and use them to stuff your turkey tomorrow. You will be happy you did 🙂
