This is how Wikipidia defines Pots de Creme:
“Pot de crème (pronounced /ˈpoʊdəˈkrɛm/[1] POH-də-KREHM) is a loose French dessert custard dating to the 17th Century”
For me it is just a a delicious duality of soft whipped chocolate pudding with bits of coffee…pretty much…yeah!
I made these amazing chocolate-espresso Pots de Creme as a little treat to offer during the FHC fair where I’ve been invited by Castellari Caffe’
and I made them again last night as I had guests over for dinner.
I just LOVE this dessert. Why?
– because it has chocolate in it
– because it has coffee in it
– because it literally takes 5 min to make
– because all you need is a blender = all you need to wash afterward is just a blender
-because it has chocolate in it….did I mention that?
Here is how you make it!
Ingredients (for about 6 servings):
- 1 cup of very strong coffee
- 1-1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of salt
- whipped cream to garnish (optional)
Start by taking out of your refrigerator 4 eggs. DO SO about 1 hour before starting!
In your blender put the chocolate chips
Add the 4 egg at room temperature
the vanilla extract and salt.
Turn on your blender
Once all the ingredients are pretty much all well combined, start pouring in the HOT coffee. You want your coffee to be VERY, VERY HOT. Keep blending for a few minutes.
Pour the mixture into 6 glass, any shape will do (I took a picture of this but it came out sooo blurry that I really cannot post it here…so just go without it and use your imagination 🙂
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours….this is how it will look after being refrigerated
Garnish with whipped cream
and serve
