This focaccia bread recipe is my mom’s. It’s the base for any kind of stuffed focaccia and it pretty much goes with everything!
Months ago I posted the Onion and Black Olive Stuffed Focaccia a delicious focaccia bread stuffed with a tomato, onion and black olive sauce…JUST DIVINE! (Go check it out!)
Today I’l show you this other tasty treat: a delicious, simple ham and mozzarella stuffed focaccia.
Let’s get started!
Ingredients (for about 6 servings):
- 1 cup semolina flour
- 1 cup bread flour
- 2/3 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 150 g ham
- 80 g mozzarella cheese
Start by taking an half cup of warm water and add in it 1 tbsp of olive oil
Then dissolve in it the instant yeast, let it rest for 10 min
This is about 10 mins after, can you see how bubbly and freaky it looks now?…that’s good!
Go ahead and take 1 cup semolina flour and 1 cup bread flour. Combine them in a bowl
Add a pinch of salt and slowly pour in the water/oil/yeast mixture and using your hands mix all the ingredients together
Knead the dough until it is smooth and soft
Now divide the dough in two pieces, take one half and roll it out into a circle. Slightly grease a baking pan where you will put the dough disc
On top of the dough disc lay the ham
than the mozzarella cheese
Take the second half, roll it out into a disc that you will place on top of the previous one so that it can totally cover the ham and mozzarella filling.
Now fold the edges of the bottom layer onto the top one, so to seal the 2 discs of dough together
Bake in preheat oven (180C) for about 30-35 min or until golden brown
Let it cool down, then cut into slices and enjoy!
