Braid Bread

This recipe is an invention of mine. Since I really enjoy eating bread but I don’t have time to go and buy it fresh everyday I’ve decided to try and make it at home. This is a whole wheat braid so very reach in fiber, perfect if you are on a diet 🙂

Ingredients: 材料:

  • 1 1/4 cups rye flour – 黑麦面粉1 1/4杯
  • 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour – 全麦面粉2 1/4杯
  • 1 tsp salt – 盐1小匙
  • 15 g instant yeast – 速效酵母15克
  • 250 ml warm water – 温水250毫升

Dissolve the east in 100 ml of water and mix it with all the ingredients in a bowl. Kneat the dough till it is smooth and soft. Let rest for about 20 min. 将酵母溶解在100毫升的水中,并将所有的原材料混合在一个碗中。将面团搓揉均匀至光滑、柔软有弹性。静置松驰约20分钟待用。

Take the dough and divide it into 2 parts. 把面团分成2团

Shape the 2 pieces of inot French sticks. 将2个面团做成类似比薯条大 的形状

Weave them together so to form a braid. 将它们一起编成辫子的形状。

Let rest for about 20 min. Place into preheat oven at about 220 C for 30 min then bring the temperature down to 200 and keep baking for other 30 min. 静置松驰约20分钟。220度烤30分钟,然后将温度调低至200度再继续烘焙30分钟便可

You should be able to get about 16 slices, each slice provides:

  • Calories: 99  (from fat 4)
  • Fat: 0.5 g
  • Carbohydrates: 20.6 g
  • Protein: 3.6 g
