How many of you that are reading this don’t like sushi? I am sure most of you do, like me.
Yesterday night I had dinner at this awesome all you can eat and drink Japanese restaurant in Gubei and I have told myself that I could learn how to prepare sushi myself so this morning I’ve decided to give it a try.
You can find all the ingredients you need (vinegar, sea weed, wasabi, rice, fish, egg fish, ext) at this little Japanese grocery store in Gubei (right next to Carrefour). It is not the cheapest place in town but it is totally worth it. On Sunday afternoon there is a japanese master chef giving free demonstrations on how to prepare sushi…a real experience I have personally enjoyed a lot 😀
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sushi rice (short grain)
- 2/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 1/4 cups water
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
First wash and soak the Japanese rice.
Cook it in a rice cooker.
Prepare sushi vinegar by mixing vinegar, sugar and salt in a sauce pan.
Put the pan on low heat and heat till the sugar dissolve. Let it cool.
This is the rice vinegar you need to use (a japanese woman suggested it to me at the Japanese store in Gubei)
Spread the steamed rice on a large plate.
Sprinkle the vinegar on top of rice and fold the rice carefully with a rice spatula while cooling it with a fan.
